Dr. Pamela Pearson is a nurse midwife and the director of the Nurse Midwifery WHNP program at UIC. Dr. Pearson received her training as a nurse at Rush university, and her DNP at the UIC College of Nursing in 2018. Discussion includes Dr. Pearson’s experiences as a midwife and facing adversity from male physicians, her experience standing up for students as an educator at the College of Nursing. Also covered is Dr. Pearson’s experience working in community clinics, the overturning of Roe v Wade, and discussion around new research initiatives looking to address healthcare disparities in relation to birthing amongst black and white women in Chicago.
