Deborah Bump

Deborah Richmond-Bump is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Visiting Clinical Practice Nurse Educator at UIC. She also maintains a private practice. Originally from New York, Nurse Bump received her training at Bronx Community College, and her NP certificate from St. Louis University. Discussion includes growing up and attending school in New York and the importance of community colleges for making nursing education accessible to students. Also covered is Nurse Bump’s experience working in a pediatric hospital ward, as a part of the University of Chicago Doula program, and in psychiatric nursing in some of Chicago’s most under-resourced communities. interviewers were Karen Flynn and Gwyneth Franck.
