She began her foray into the nursing profession as a charge nurse for the UChicago Health System. Throughout her decades-long career, she has held numerous positions in education and healthcare, including serving as Dean for the College of Nursing at Chicago State University (1983-1990) and as a Vice President for Community Affairs and Campus Operation at National Louis University in Chicago. Interview includes discussion focused on Berlean's experiences at Provident Hospital School of Nursing, higher ed administration, and Illinois politics. Interviewer was Gwyneth Franck.
